People want to increase the weight that they could carry for various reasons. The most common would be to be able to make their daily tasks much easier. Others do it to look more muscular. Whatever the reasons are, there are many exercises that have been developed to help them achieve this goal.
The basic principle in order to increase muscular strength is to continually challenge your body by increasing the weights that you use. Among the exercises that people commonly do are:
1. Deadlifts
This exercise is usually performed using dumbbells in both hands, or a long barbell bar. You start this exercise squatting down with your feet underneath the bar and grabbing the bar with your hands about shoulder-width apart. You could either hold the bar using an overhand or mixed grip. You then lift the bar by standing up and then pulling your shoulders back slightly when you are able to reach the top of the movement. You then slowly return to the starting position.
2. Bentover Barbell Row
You start this exercise by grabbing the long barbell bar with a wide overhand grip with your knees slightly bent. You also have to ensure that you keep your back straight. You then raise the bar towards your waist. You should look like you were rowing a boat when in this position. You then slowly return to the starting position.
These are only among the few exercises that you could easily do. If this is coupled with other exercises focusing on other muscle groups, you could be assured that you could increase your overall muscular strength in no time.
